18 Inch Chunky Heishi Turquoise and Stegadon Necklace

+About this piece:
The base of this beautiful strand is large heishi made of beautiful Hubei turquoise. But the stars of the piece are the fossilized stegadon beads! These are authentic, fossilized dinosaur bones, handcrafted into beads. Stegadon beads are highly prized for their earthy colors and uniqueness. They are an outstanding companion to turquoise. The hand crafted cross toggle is sterling, hand stamped with American Indian made metal stamps and marked with my maker's mark. This necklace is perfect alone or layered with other pieces. 
 
Necklace length is approximately 18 inches.
 
+About Chinese turquoise: 
China produces some beautiful turquoise from a variety of mines and has become the most widely used turquoise in the world. Much turquoise from China is reminiscent of Nevada mines that are now closed. Colors range from light blue to bright blue to deep green to brown; really, almost any color and matrix variation.
 
+About fossilized Stegadon bone:
Stegadon was an elephant-like mammal that lived approximately 11 million years ago, to as recently as 4000 years ago. Fossilized Stegadon bone is found primarily in Indonesia.

+ All pieces are slowly and carefully handmade, in my studio in Sheridan, Wyoming. Because of this, each piece is unique and may contain the slight imperfections that you would expect with a handcrafted item. Perfectly imperfect!
+ As with all handmade jewelry, please be mindful to take care of it. It should not be worn in the pool, shower, while cleaning, during strenuous activities such as sports, or in the water.
+ Sun, heat, lotions, sunscreen and chemicals can affect stones negatively. Clean silver (not stones) with a gentle polishing cloth, especially for jewelry (Sunshine polishing cloth is recommended).
