A27 Amethyst & Pyrite Doublet

Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz. The name originates from the Greek language translating to “not drunkenness” referring to the belief that these gemstones might prevent intoxication.  Faceted pyrite doublet. Pyrite is a naturally occurring iron disulfide mineral. The name comes from the Greek word pyr, “fire,” because pyrite emits sparks when struck by metal. Measures approximately 16x8mm to 9x9mm.
