Ammonite with Sapphire Gem Slice Earrings
From my studio in the foothills of the beautiful Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming.
Sliced and polished, fossilized ammonites surrounded with hand shaped silver forms and captured with silver prongs. One of the most successful sea creatures of their time, ammonites died out around 66 million years ago. The shells can become irridescent during fossilization and display a rainbow of colors. These are paired with rose cut, pink silky sapphires with a lovely chatoyancy (glow). The small gold colored stones are imperial topaz; rare and highly prized in the gem world. Integrated ear wires are sterling. These are approximately 1 3/4 inches from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the stone.
All sterling. One-of-a-kind. Hand built in the heart of the West.
+ All pieces are slowly and carefully handmade, in my studio in Sheridan, Wyoming. Because of this, each piece is unique and may contain the slight imperfections that you would expect with a handcrafted item. Perfectly imperfect!
+ As with all handmade jewelry, please be mindful to take care of it. It should not be worn in the shower, while cleaning, during strenuous activities such as sports, or in the water.
+ Sun, heat, lotions and chemicals can affect stones negatively. Clean silver (not stones) with a gentle polishing cloth, especially for jewelry (Sunshine polishing cloth is recommended).
