Post humous issue of Constantine. Approximate date 337-340 AD. “MANVS DEI” the Hand of God. The inscription “DV” stands for “divus” or “divine.” Front shows Constantine I depicted in a burial shroud. Reverse side shows the Emperor riding a chariot and being welcomed to heaven by God, depicted by God’s hand at the top of the coin. Near God’s hand is a star. The coin also represents the first Judeo-Christian imagery on a coin. Constantine I was the first Christian emperor and was instrumental in guiding the empire to become a Christian state. Measures 15x15mm.
