Mughal Carved Ruby Folded Bezel Earrings

Deep pink rubies have been deeply carved in the Mughal style, and set into folded silver bezels. Perfectly classic. The edges and backs are textured and the back is set with my makers mark. Approx. 23mm from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the bezel. Ear wires are sterling.

Small batch. All sterling. One-of-a-kind. Hand built in the heart of the West.

+About Mughal carving: From the early 1500's to the mid 1700's, India was under the rule of the Mughal dynasty. The Mughals were admirers of the arts, food, clothing, architecture and jewelry. Gemstones, pearls and enamel were heavily featured in jewelry designs. During this reign, gemstone carving flourished. Gemstone carving requires years of experience and training. Today, these tiny works of art are enjoying a comback as one way for a technology driven world to connect, and engage, with a unique, handcrafted artform.

+ About ruby:

One of the most traditional and durable of gemstones, ruby is widely used in gemstone jewelry. It is a form of corundum and is pink to blood-red. It has been found all over the world, and valued for centuries.

+ Details:

All pieces are slowly and carefully handmade, in my studio in Sheridan, Wyoming. Because of this, each piece is unique and may contain the slight imperfections that you would expect with a handcrafted item. Perfectly imperfect!

+ As with all handmade jewelry, please be mindful to take care of it. It should not be worn in the shower, while cleaning, during strenuous activities such as sports, or in the water.

+ Sun, heat, lotions and chemicals can affect stones negatively. Clean silver (not stones) with a gentle polishing cloth, especially for jewelry (Sunshine polishing cloth is recommended and included with your purchase).
